Let's Get Back to the Bra Basics
Ladies, we are here today to talk about the basics of bras. These are questions we answer frequently from customers who have shopped with us in store! You may already know the answers to these, but let's refresh your memory!
How long should my bra last?
If you have at least 2-3 bras in rotation, your bra should last you around 9-12 months, maybe a little bit longer depending on how you care for it.
How should I wash my bras?
Hand washing is always best. If you don't hand wash, stack your bras on top of each other, place in a lingerie bag (Click here), and wash on the gentle cycle in the washing machine using a detergent made for delicate items (we suggest Forever New Granular Wash. Click here). Lay the bras flat to dry. Do not put your bras in the dryer!
Which row of hooks should I start on?
Ideally, you will purchase a bra on the loosest hooks. The elastic will break down over time as you wear it. As the band stretches, you can tighten the band by moving in on the hooks and you'll be able to wear the bra longer before you have to retire it!
How tight should my band be?
You want your band to be snug, but not uncomfortable. Your band needs to sit parallel with the floor. Remember, 80% of support comes from a snug band! If your band is riding up your back, you might just need to replace your bras depending on how old they are. If your bras aren't that old, you probably need to go down a band size!
How many bras should I own?
The more, the better! The more bras you have in rotation, the longer they will last! We always recommend having a few t-shirt bras (because they're essential!), a sports bra, a strapless bra, and a lacy bra just for fun!
